From the Democrat & Chronicle:
When Margie Dell’s brother Chucky Dell was born with Down syndrome nearly 60 years ago, the family wasn’t sure what the future would hold.
“Times were different back then,” sad Dell, of Henrietta. “We never thought Chucky would have the independence he has today.”
Since 1981 Chucky has lived independently in the community in supportive housing for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities offered by CDS Monarch, a CDS Life Transitions company.
Chucky’s current home, on French Road in Pittsford, is one of 28 residential CDS Monarch homes in Monroe and Wayne counties.
“He loves coming home to spend time with family,” Dell said. “But he can’t wait to get back to his home.”
