April 13, 2012 – Webster, NY – CDS Monarch is hosting its third annual Autism Awareness Fair on Friday, April 13, 2011 from 5-7 p.m. The event is open to the public and will be held at the Wolf Life Transitions Center located at 860 Hard Road in Webster, NY 14580.

The fair coincides with national ‘Autism Awareness Month’ in April. Autism is the fastest growing developmental disability in the U.S. and has no known cure. This awareness event aims to educate the public and strengthen understanding of those faced with autism in the area.

“Autism is one of the fastest growing disabilities in our country, and their are many people who are still undiagnosed,” stated Sankar Sewnauth, CDS Monarch President/CEO. “We hope to raise awareness and educate the public on the programs and services offered in Monroe County for children and teens with Autism. The Autism Awareness Fair brings together community members and families impacted by Autism, in order to learn more about this disorder and the supports that are available to them.”

The evening will include activities for everyone in the family including face painting, therapy animals, yoga and Wii games. Other activities will focus on art, music and sensory therapies. There will be a supervised open-swim in CDS Monarch’s world-class pool, as well as an appearance from Rosco the Clown. Mark's Pizzeria gluten-free pizza and drinks will be available for a small fee. There will also be a silent auction.
