Family Support Groups

CDS Monarch SibShops

A unique program developed by CDS Monarch, “SibShops” addresses the importance of peer support and education for the siblings of people living with developmental disabilities. Participants have the opportunity to learn from one another and share through fun activities in a relaxed environment. 

Schedule: Each session meets two Saturdays per month, 10 sessions per year

Time: 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. 

Ages: 6 - 18

Family Education and Training

Family Education and Training are informational sessions offered to families who have a loved one with a developmental disability. Sessions include:

  • Enhancing the decision-making capacity of the family unit
  • Provides orientation about the nature and impact of disabilities upon your loved one and you
  • Informs families about CDS Monarch services
  • Educates family members on resources available to help better their lives and the lives of their loved ones
  • Obtain more knowledge on topics to improve quality of life

Schedule: Sessions are on select Tuesdays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Ages: Open to all

Parent Support Group

Parents and family members of people with developmental disabilities have the opportunity to become aware of resources, gain information, and share their experiences. Parent Support Groups offer networking, support, and education on a variety of topics through scheduled presentations as well as an extensive lending library that houses materials on a variety of topics related to developmental disabilities.

Schedule: Two Saturdays per month

Time: 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

Autism Skill Building

This program offers both support and peer interaction to children and teens diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Participants develop social skills, learn how to identify and cope with stress, as well as express and manage their own emotions. 

Schedule: Monday - Friday 

Time: 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. September - June; 2:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. July - August 

Ages: Children 6 - 18 with Autism
