Evonne Pomerantz came to CDS Monarch a little more than a year ago to take on the Recreation Coordinator position. Through recreation, Evonne provides hands-on and community-based socialization opportunities for the individuals enrolled. She is responsible for registering people for this hourly respite service, and keeping records for appropriate billing. She plans monthly activities and calendars for three age groups (Adult, Teen/Young Adult, and Children), based on the interests and feedback of the group participants. Evonne leads the Teen/Young Adult and Children's sessions in the afternoons each week, which combined serve over 30 individuals. Additionally, Evonne helps out with Evening Activities, teaching classes and lending a hand at the monthly dances. She is also a certified lifeguard, which allows her to assist with activities scheduled in the Wolf Center pool. Evonne has also stepped up to learn how to do the billing for Medicaid, readily fills in wherever she is needed, and has made recommendations that allowed Recreation to better accommodate the needs of the different age ranges of those enrolled.

"I enjoy being here. My coworkers, the individuals - everyone is really great to work with," says Evonne. "I also love that every day is different depending on what we have on the calendar for that day." Her advice to all of her fellow staff at CDS Monarch is "to not be afraid to learn about all of the services that CDS Monarch offers. If you are aware of what is going on in other departments, you will be more knowledgeable and respected, you will have a greater sense of teamwork, and even more appreciation for all of the great things that are happening here."

"Evonne has proven to be a dedicated employee to CDS Monarch in the year that she has worked here," states Ajaleah Bobowski, Activities Manager. "She is creative with her activity plans and has an excellent relationship with the families and kids she works with. She is always flexible and willing to go the extra mile to make sure our programs run at their best."

In her free time Evonne enjoys spending time with her two boys, camping, being a girl scout leader (of 10+ years), and lending a hand milking cows at a friend's dairy farm on occasion.

Thank you, Evonne, for going above and beyond to provide fun and engaging activities for the individuals who participate in Recreation at CDS Monarch, and for being a compassionate and driven member of the team!
