CDS Monarch's Families in Need (FIN) fund assists families with expenses for basic necessities to ensure adequate care for an individual with a disability. The fund relies entirely on donations from members of the community, and several fundraisers are held each year to replenish those dollars.

Over the summer FIN held the Star Spangled Shortstack Saturday (pancake breakfast), which raised $1200. The most recent fundraiser, Painting with a Purpose, took place just last week and raised $350. Thank you to those who came out to support this event! And right now, through Sunday, October 27th, Yolickity Frozen Yogurt in Webster is donating 20% of their sales back to the fund when you mention CDS Monarch at the register. Also, on December 7th, FIN will hold the Mascot Madness Shortstack Saturday (pancake breakfast). Tickets can be purchased by contacting Jackie Lange at 347-1032.

So how does FIN use the money that it raises? Committee members Jackie Lange (Chair), Amy Popeck, Cindy Tyo, Martin Schneiderman, Renee Chichester, Amber Johnson, and Melissa Mulcahy meet quarterly to review submitted requests based on an established set of criteria. In the past, FIN has provided items such as a specialized feeding chair, adapted stroller, therapy swing, adapted hearing system, and communication and positioning aides. During the holiday season the fund sets aside money for Holiday Gift Giving, which has helped provide food and gifts for 25 CDS Monarch families. This year, funds will continue to be used for these same types of requests. Thank you to all who have contributed to Families in Need in some way!
