Michael, a Marine who came to Warrior Salute in the beginning of June, is also a talented musician who has been playing guitar since he was twelve years old. However, when he travelled to Rochester from Chicago, he had to leave his guitar behind. For Michael, the guitar is a way of expressing himself and it helps him to relax.

The staff at Warrior Salute had been searching in the community for a left-handed guitar for Michael to help him in his music therapy sessions. Then Warrior Salute welcomed visitor, Lori Schneider, gold star mother of a Fallen Marine and Founder of the Cpl. Kyle R. Schneider Foundation, for a tour of the program. Being the mother of a Marine, Lori connected immediately with Michael. "Once a Marine Mama, always a Marine Mama," she said. Shortly after Lori's visit, she called to say that she had acquired a left-handed guitar for Michael. She returned the next week to give it to him, and Michael thanked her by sharing his talent and playing a couple of songs.

Thank you to Lori Schneider and the Cpl. Kyle R. Schneider Foundation for giving the gift of music to one of our Warrior Salute Veterans!
