New York State has awarded CDS Monarch grant funding of $100,000 for Warrior Salute™, a service of CDS Monarch, which helps Veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI) to successfully transition back into their community.
The funding was included in the New York State Budget for 2013-2014 as part of the Department of Mental Hygiene, Office of Mental Health, Aid to Localities section (S.2603E). New York State Senator Mike Nozzolio and New York State Senator Joe Robach were key in helping to restore funding to the Office of Mental Health budget, which made it possible for CDS Monarch to receive this grant.
"It has always been my belief that there is no greater debt of honor owed to anyone than that which every American citizen owes to our veterans. This important funding will allow CDS Monarch to provide world-class healthcare and treatment services right here in the Finger Lakes region to local veterans who have sacrificed so much to protect our freedoms," said Senator Nozzolio. "As State Senator, I will continue my aggressive efforts on behalf of our brave service members and their families and I look forward to continuing to work with CDS Monarch to provide our veterans with the healthcare and support services they need and deserve."
"I was glad we could direct some resources to assisting our deserving veterans and their families on dealing with post traumatic stress disorders, brain injuries, and other related issues and allow them to successfully transition into a successful civilian life," said Senator Robach. "CDS Monarch's Warrior Salute program is a great resource for veterans in our community needing assistance."
CDS Monarch requested the grant money to help fund healthcare and treatment services to Veterans in the Warrior Salute program. These services include mental health counseling, physical therapy, occupational therapy, nursing services, medical appointment support/transportation, and emergency services such as Urgent Care, Hospital or Pharmacy needs for Veterans not covered by traditional VA services.
"We are proud to have New York State recognize the value and importance of Warrior Salute and the need for such a program to support Veterans as the transition home. We appreciate the support that this will provide for our service men and women who gave so much for us," stated Sankar Sewnauth, CDS Monarch President/CEO.
