For the past year, the team at Unistel has been preparing for a very important audit that would, if passed, award a Safe Quality Food Certification (SQF) to the Blossom Road Facility. I am proud to announce that Unistel successfully completed the audit and was awarded Level 3 certification, the highest achievable level!

SQF's motto is "one world, one standard". It is recognized by retailers and foodservice providers around the world who require a rigorous, credible food safety management system. The SQF program is recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) and links primary production certification to food manufacturing, distribution and agent/broker management certification. It is administered by the Food Marketing Institute and benefits from continual retailer feedback about consumer concerns, keeping SQF certified suppliers a step ahead of competition. SQF is an international systemic approach to food safety and quality.

What does this mean for Unistel? SQF allows Unistel to enter into retail and commercial markets for new business opportunities. This certification gives Unistel credibility in a marketplace we have never had before. We are part of a standardized benchmark, placing us at the highest level of safe quality food management, joining the company of well-known retailers such as Wegmans, Wal-Mart, HEB Foods, and many more.

I want to thank the entire team at Unistel for all the hard work, dedication, and commitment that was put into achieving this milestone for CDS Monarch and Unistel. It was a complete change of culture for everyone and I could not be prouder of the work that was put into this certification process. Staff spent countless hours working on policies and procedures, as well as, changing the face of the production floor, implementing new systems and ensuring staff and individuals were performing. The individuals working at Blossom have shown great discipline in understanding and practicing all of the new procedures. The important piece to gaining SQF certification is living the policies and procedures that are created; this is clearly evident at Unistel with the successful completion of this audit.

Congratulations to the Unistel team on this magnificent accomplishment!
