On Friday, May 6, 2011 the CDS Foundation held a CDS Family Night at the Red Wings. The weather was beautiful at and the turn out was impressive. Families enjoyed a complimentary picnic dinner at the Frontier Field pavilion before the game. The Red Wings had an amazing comeback, with a 7-4 victory, giving the game an exciting, edge-of-the-seat finish. Those who chose to stay late for the fireworks enjoyed an amazing show and celebration.
A raffle was held for Red Wings gear, and all donations went to the CDS Families in Need Fund. The Families in Need Fund relies on donations made by community members to assist CDS families with the basic necessities they require to ensure adequate care for an individual with a disability.
This event was a great way for CDS families and the community to come together to enjoy an evening of fun, but also to get some important agency updates. CDS President/CEO, Sankar Sewnauth, gave an update about recent progress at the agency, and Melissa Mulcahy, Executive Director of the CDS Foundation, discussed some of the ways that people can give back to CDS.
