Special Olympics held the first competition of the year, Regional Nordic Skiing and Snow Shoeing on Saturday, January 22 at Bristol Mountain Ski Resort. There was plenty of snow, no wind and cold temperatures all making for a perfect outdoor winter event.

Six athletes from CDS competed in snowshoeing with about 60 other athletes from the Genesee Special Olympic Region. This was CDS' first time participating and completing in snowshoeing. The team was coached by Ed Basaman assisted by Maria Basaman, Michelle White-Savage and Bill Warden. The athletes results were:

Chris Cunningham took Gold in the 50 Meter and Silver in the 100 Meter.
Kris Warden took Silver in the 25 Meter and Silver in the 50 Meter.
Amanda Vito took Gold in both the 50 and 100 Meter.
Marc Demaras took Silver in the 50 Meter and Gold in the 100 Meter.
Kenny Moriarity took Silver in the 50 Meter and Bronze in the 100 Meter.
